A typical day on the job:   I get here at 8:10 and start working pretty much as soon as I get here. I don’t take lunch – just so I can stay on top of what my boss needs and be able to leave on time at the end of the day.

 

Positive things about being an administrative professional in this industry:   Getting to know a lot about what is going on in the museum because my boss is a department head.

 

Negative things about being an administrative professional in this industry:  There is not a lot of room for growth.

 

Type of workspace/office:  desk outside of my boss’s office

 

Primary responsibilities as an administrative professional in this position:  Calendar scheduling, expense reports, travel arrangements, keeping track of staff’s attendance, and organizing.

 

Top thing(s) incumbent admin would require of job applicants seeking to be her/his position replacement:  Most have a lot of tolerance and patience, able to handle all types of personalities and well organized.
