Current job title:  Executive Assistant

 

Industry:  Credit Cards - small business owners

 

Department:  Credit & Marketing Analysis

Special training or attributes needed or helpful to get job in this industry (or specific department):  Major computer knowledge and people skills a must. Experience landed this position.

 

Number of managers and/or staff supported:  Two senior vice presidents with their staffs of 30 each.

 

Typical work hours:   I make my own. I am always on 24 hour call for them.

 

Weekends or overtime hours:  When needed yes. I can get overtime but prefer additional time off since job is so stressful.

A typical day on the job:  Non stop all day and diversified, no day is ever the same.

 

Positive things about being an administrative professional in this industry:  Respect, treated the same as management because we are recognized as an integral part of the business' day to day operations.

I also constantly get offers from other credit companies for employment.

 

Negative things about being an administrative professional in this industry:  None!

 

Type of workspace/office:  All levels have cubes. I prefer cube, I can communicate better and it sends a message of open and welcome atmosphere.

 

Primary responsibilities as an administrative professional in this position:  Calendar management, constant online travel arrangements, e-mail management, legal document prep (NDAs, Confidentially Agreements, etc.) and over office management.

 

Top thing(s) incumbent admin would require of job applicants seeking to be her/his position replacement:  Experience, very flexible, can do attitude and major people skills!

 

Office machines or equipment operated regularly:  Color copier/printer, postage machines, Infoucs Machine and major dictate phone.

 

Technology (hard) skills used regularly:  Know as much computer software as you possible can. Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Online travel, Visio for org charts, Ms Project, etc.

 

Critical soft skills:  People skills major, must be flexible, constant change in deadlines , travel, meetings, agendas and you can't let that get to you.

 

Pace of this position:  Fast forward 24/7 but I love this kind of environment!
