Special training or attributes needed or helpful to get job in this industry (or specific department):  I had prior healthcare industry experience (about 4 years) and had a medical terminology background (previous court reporter – took several med. Terminology classes while in school and had on the job experience).

Typical work hours:  8am – 5pm

 

Weekends or overtime hours:  Some overtime (about 5 hours per week) – but I’m on salary so no payment for it.

A typical day on the job:  Tons of calendar issues (scheduling, confirming, rescheduling, etc.), phone calls from internal and external staff and patients, paperwork (completing forms, etc), and some dictation.
