My previous position was an office manager/bookkeeper for a [person]  who owned and operated six businesses out of one office. So the many, many, many tasks performed really helped in my organizational skills, not to mention my typing and computer skills.

 

Number of managers and/or staff supported:  1 executive director plus 15 member Board of Directors

 

Typical work hours:  8:30 to 5:00 M-F

 

Weekends or overtime hours:  During the summer I work rotating weekends of 10-4 Sat & 1-4 Sun. If overtime is worked, yes I get paid for it---[but instead usually] I get time off during the week so I don’t go over 40 hours.

 

General salary range (Note: This is a general figure or range provided by survey respondent and may NOT be an exact salary in order to give survey respondent some privacy. Also you must take into account that the number of years worked in industry/department may contribute to this salary as well as criteria such as level of position and person reports to, required hours and geographical location.):  approx. $11/hour

Inductees/Honorees – Each year we select 15 individuals who have represented and contributed to the way of life in our state.


Honorarium – One way a person (usually an inductee) gives and supports the organization. This is a set financial amount.


Nominations – The forms filled out by others to suggest a candidate to become an inductee.

 

A typical day on the job:  A typical day includes answer phones, run the gift shop, prepare financial numbers/reports, prepare correspondence, manage the details of anything. You name it – I do it.

Type of workspace/office:  office [but fills in at reception desk as greeter for recently vacated position not filled yet]

Day to Day Bookkeeping
Correspondence to members and inductees
Keep everything running smoothly

Office machines or equipment operated regularly:  Phone, fax, copier, answering machine, computers, ten key calculator, cash register, tv, vcr, pop machine (gotta have the caffeine!)

Accounting – for the reports to the board
Design & layout – learned on the job – for anything we publish (invitations & magazine)
