Number of managers and/or staff supported:  3 managers and 24 staff members.

 

Typical work hours:  8:00a.m. to 5:30p.m.

 

Weekends or overtime hours:  I do not work weekends but do have to work about 2 ˝ hours overtime per week.

A typical day on the job:  I typically manage employee schedules, time sheets and payroll. Credentialing issues for our doctors. I also might need to handle travel arrangements for our doctors or I may have an employee come in with a problem that they need help with. I order supplies for our clinic and manage vendors who come in to deliver.

 

Positive things about being an administrative professional in this industry:  There is never a dull moment. I am constantly challenged to find ways to complete tasks better and faster.

 

Negative things about being an administrative professional in this industry:  I am often stressed due to multiple bosses assigning tasks to me that they want completed immediately.

 

Type of workspace/office:  office (share with one clerk)

Technology (hard) skills used regularly:  I have to complete online applications for our doctors to stay credentialed with our local hospitals and insurance companies. I have to have excellent computer skills in able to do this correctly.

 

Critical soft skills:  I work with foreign doctors so I must concentrate on listening to them so that I understand exactly what they are wanting me to accomplish.
