Special training or attributes needed or helpful to get job in this industry (or specific department):  No, I didn't need any kind of special training, but my expertise in office administration helped to adjust quickly to the new environment and get the job done in a short period of time.

 

Number of managers and/or staff supported:  3 Vice President and 11 Directors under them; plus support to other VP's/directors including the CIO when necessary.

 

Typical work hours:  8:00 – 5:00

 

Weekends or overtime hours:  I get paid overtime and generally I worked 4-5 hours per month. It really depends on the urgency, sometimes could be more.

Positive things about being an administrative professional in this industry:  Our company has resorts worldwide so that let me interact with people around the world. Second, being in the IT department means that we have the more advanced equipment.

 

Negative things about being an administrative professional in this industry:  First, technology changes too fast; second, because our department supports all resorts around the world you never know what's going to happen; third, the office is chaos when a system is down.

 

Type of workspace/office:  cubicle

 

Primary responsibilities as an administrative professional in this position:  Manage the bosses calendars, have the AV equipment available at any time, maintain office supplies for the department.
