Special training or attributes needed or helpful to get job in this industry (or specific department):  Since I have previous administrative assistant experience all I had to learn was the construction field (I am trained in medical office work).

 

Number of managers and/or staff supported:  It is just a small family business.

 

Typical work hours:  Usually a couple hours a day.

 

Weekends or overtime hours:  No weekends or overtime needed.

A typical day on the job:  Get the phone messages and answer any questions if I can, the ones that I cannot handle goes to the contractor, type any proposals and invoices on the computer, and schedule appointments, take inventory and put into the computer.

 

Positive things about being an administrative professional in this industry:  I learn something new every day, I am busy all the time, I enjoy my job.

 

Negative things about being an administrative professional in this industry:  Sometimes I get frustrated because the contractor is not here a lot to answer questions.

Primary responsibilities as an administrative professional in this position:  Word processing, maintaining a database of client, telephones, scheduling appointments, bookkeeping.
